Sammut Family Foundation Donates $1,500 to Skyline College's President's Innovation Fund

Mr. Dennis Sammutt of the Sammut Family Foundation of San Bruno, California has made a donation to the President's Innovation Fund of Skyline College. The fund provides resources to faculty to launch creative and effective programs and studies…

Faculty of Skyline College are able to apply for the fund to develop innovative student service support programs that directly relate to Skyline College's mission and values. Student success through outreach, communication, enhancing institutional leadership and providing a safe and secure campus encompass the vision that the fund is based on. Community member donations provide the fund, which enables teachers and students to "dream out loud".

Dr. Regina Stanback Stroud, President of Skyline College, writes that the fund "(has) seen many lives changed for the better. Our keynote speakers, students Jamela Brown, Richard Nelson and Professor Jennifer Mair all gave inspirational testimonies on the benefits they personally received from programs supported by the President's Innovation Fund." The donation made by the Sammut Family Foundation aided Skyline College in hosting a "record setting" President's Breakfast, which raises resources for The President's Innovation Fund.

Skyline College is a community college, accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The institution offers more than 80 Associate Degree and Certificate programs. Opened in 1969, Skyline College is one of three community colleges in the San Mateo County Community College District. Skyline provides a convenient, low cost and high quality way for students to fulfill educational goals and offers short courses throughout each semester.

The Sammut Family Foundation's President, Dennis Sammutt, is the owner of family owned Artichoke Joe's Casino and Card Club of San Bruno, California. Artichoke Joe's was founded by Joseph Sammutt in 1916, changing its name from Joe's Pool Parlor to Artichoke Joe's in 1921. Since then, Artichoke Joe's has grown into a 20,000 square foot casino, featuring thirty-eight table games. Artichoke Joe's remains open 365 days of the year, 24 hours a day and is one of San Bruno's oldest businesses.
